Visit the Stawell Gold Mines observation deck
There is an observation area at the SGM visitor carpark located at 43 Reefs Road, Stawell. Visitors have the opportunity to view the portal to underground, the mill and other surface areas. The observation deck has a commentary device activated by visitors that speaks about the mining history in Stawell.
Community Grants
The SGM Community Grants Program helps strengthen social, educational, recreational and environmental aspects of the communities in which we operate. The Program runs bi-annually and allocates funding to individuals or community groups for projects or activities that benefit the communities in Stawell and surrounds.
Some projects SGM has supported in the past include: infrastructure upgrades, donation towards food for those in need, fitness and wellbeing program equipment, sponsorship of local events, sporting matches, equipment upgrades, new facilities, trophies, wildlife monitoring equipment, flood mitigation project, first aid and safety equipment, and educational materials.
Environmental projects must consider the current regulations of relevant land managers and government authorities when preparing an application. Additionally, projects involving revegetation must submit a comprehensive list of native plant species appropriate for the specific site conditions and objectives.

SGM in the Community
Stawell Gold Mines is active in the local community and recognises that stakeholders have different needs and expectations with respect to engagement and consultation. Consequently, Stawell Gold Mines holds a variety of events throughout the year to effectively engage and communicate with its stakeholders.
Each year the team holds a Pop Up Information week in town, display machinery at the local StawellBiz Easter Extravaganza, and have a stand at the Stawell Show with gold panning and a colouring in competition. Stawell Gold Mines supports local sporting groups, schools, and businesses through sponsorships each year.
